Wal-Mart recalls table and chair sets due to fall hazards
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday, January 2, that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is recalling more than 73,000 Mainstays five-piece card table and chair sets following 10 injury reports, including a case of finger amputation.
The CPSC stated that the chairs can suddenly collapse, potentially causing fall hazards that might lead to finger and back injuries. Consumers are urged to discontinue using the product and to return it for a complete refund.
The recalled products were retailed at different Wal-Mart stores across the country and on the company’s website between May and November last year. A label containing the words “Made by: Dongguan Shin Din Metal & Plastic Products Co.” can be found at the bottom side of the chairs.
